About & methodology

A community-led editorial reference

CyberQamus is the result of ongoing collaboration between security practitioners, translators, and academic linguists across the Arab region.

Why CyberQamus exists

Arabic cybersecurity terminology is fragmented across national regulators, translation vendors, and internal glossaries. CyberQamus is an independent editorial project bringing that terminology under a single, transparent, expert-reviewed reference.

How terminology is selected

Terms are prioritised based on their frequency and relevance across international and national frameworks, standards, and community submissions

How translations are reviewed

Every translation follows a structured review process before it is published

  1. Step 1

    Initial Editorial Screening

The submission is checked for completeness, relevance, clarity, and possible duplication

  2. Step 2

    Subject-Matter Expert Review

A qualified expert reviews the terminology, meaning, translation, and professional context

  3. Step 3

    Independent Cross-Review

Complex or sensitive terms are reviewed by a second expert to confirm accuracy and consistency

  4. Step 4

    Approved Publication

The approved term is published with a review date and audit trail, then opened to the community for voting and feedback

Community vs. approved terminology

Community-proposed terms are visibly labelled and never appear as approved. Only after expert review can a translation carry the Approved status badge.

Editorial independence

CyberQamus does not accept sponsorship over specific translations. Contributors declare organisational affiliation but decisions rest with the editorial board.

Use of artificial intelligence

AI assists with search, related-term suggestion, and simplified explanations. AI-generated content is always labelled and never bypasses expert review.

Corrections & disputes

Anyone may report an issue on any term. Substantive disputes are re-assigned to a fresh expert reviewer and their outcome is published in the term's audit trail.
